We always loved Nintendo, but apparently the massive Japanese corporation currently exists solely to get us through these incredibly strange days. After the joyous arrival of Animal Crossing: New Horizons they surprised us with 30 minute long Nintendo Direct presentation on YouTube revealing a whole roster of incredible, exciting, and strangely enticing new games!
The biggest news here is undoubtably that both the Bioshock and Borderlands franchises–along with other 2K games like XCOM–will be coming to the Switch in the form of BioShock®: The Collection and the Borderlands® Legendary Collection. Melissa Bell, Senior Vice President & Head of Global Marketing at 2K is just as excited as fans stating “We’re thrilled to be bringing some of our biggest franchises to the Nintendo Switch platform.” Another big reveal is the announcement that classic Star Wars games, Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy and Star Wars™ Episode I: Racer would be coming to both the Switch and the PS4. If that makes you happy then you’ll be very glad to know that the former, Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy is available right now!!
That wasn’t the only surprise drop that went along with today’s presentation. Nintendo also mentioned the long awaited dragon riding game remaster Panzer Dragoon: Remake; a new deep sea exploration game called Shinsekai: Into the Depths; Good Job which looks like a hilarious puzzle game where you play as the useless child of a corporate CEO; and a free update for the currently very useful Ring Fit Adventure. This will allow users to exercise to classic Nintendo soundtracks in addition to other features.
For Fantastic Four conspiracy theorists like me there was great news as a new Expansion Pass for Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: Black Order. This will focus on Marvel’s First Family and their nemesis Dr. Doom! Marvel doesn’t usually roll stuff like this out unless they have plans to bring these characters to the movie universe. So here’s hoping!
Climb the corporate ladder in #GoodJob! As the clumsy child of the CEO, you'll complete a variety of office-themed puzzles in unexpected & hilarious ways. Pokémon fans will be happy to know that Sword and Shield will see a BIG Expansion Pass making “the sprawling island in the sea, the Isle of Armor, and the frozen snowscape known as the Crown Tundra available in the Galar region”. It’s a rad addition that will allow players to attend a Pokémon training dojo on the Isle of Armor, and receive the Legendary Pokémon Kubfu. According to Nintendo we’ll learn more about the secondary location, Crown Tundra in coming months.
The mini presentation was stacked full of new game announcements including fun titles like Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition, BRAVELY DEFAULT II, Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics, Burnout Paradise Remastered, Fuser, King’s Bounty II, Ninjala, and Catherine: Full Body. And we’re going to finish on a high note with the reveal of the first big Animal Crossing: New Horizons seasonal event which will from April 1-April 12th allow players to hunt Easter Eggs and craft special items with them thanks to a cute new visitor called Zipper! There’ll also be an Earth Day update to the smash game in late April!
