Take a Look Inside Avengers Campus at Disneyland Resort

The newest addition to Disneyland Resort, Avengers Campus, should have opened last summer. Obviously the pandemic changed that. But while Disney California Adventure remained closed, along with the rest of Disneyland Resort, construction continued. Walt Disney Imagineering pushed forward with building Avengers Campus and its first attraction: WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure, featuring Tom Holland. And now that Disneyland Resort’s reopening date is on the horizon (April 30), Disney Parks, Experiences and Products chairman Josh D’Amaro announced a new opening date for Avengers Campus on Thursday afternoon as part of a press event with president of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige.

Avengers Campus opens on June 4. That happens to be two days after Feige’s birthday.

Disney Parks also shared a look inside the land in the above video. It’s like taking a very quick walk through Avengers Campus. Still, the video offers our first real peek at finished areas. And you know what? Looks pretty dang cool.

The Quinjet sits atop Avengers HQ. During the press event Feige recalled seeing the Quinjet “flying” into place. Obviously a crane gave the Quinjet an assist, but Feige commented he’d never seen a full Quinjet moving like that in real life. Only in computers as part of VFX for Marvel films. And that’s only one aspect of the land. The video continues to show the exterior of the Spider-Man attraction (where guests will help Spidey stop some wayward Spider-Bots) and the enchanting looking Doctor Strange ancient sanctum area.

Disney shared a photo of the Pym Test Kitchen exterior too. Here, I’m more looking forward to seeing the interior and the food Disney creates. They’re playing with “Pym particles” and sizes.

These are only morsels, of course. But the fact that I’m this excited about only a brief preview of Avengers Campus is telling me I’ve missed theme parks more than I realized.
