THE RENTAL Trailer Takes us on a Nightmare Vacation

Dave Franco has long been known as a comedic force starring in a bunch of movies like Now You See Me, Neighbors, and both of their sequels. But with impressive dramatic turns in The Disaster Artist, 6 Balloons, and If Beale St Could Talk, he’s also been carving out a space as a serious actor. His next cinematic transformation takes him behind the camera for his directorial debut. And the trailer showcases an eye for tension and terror that genre fans will likely be impressed by.

Starring Dan Stevens, Alison Brie, Jeremy Allen White, and Sheila Vand the thriller takes place at an idyllic beach house. “Two couples on an oceanside getaway grow suspicious that the host of their seemingly perfect rental house may be spying on them. Before long, what should have been a celebratory weekend trip turns into something far more sinister, as well-kept secrets are exposed and the four old friends come to see each other in a whole new light.” So far so spooky!

The trailer looks like a good old fashioned thriller with a little home invasion horror thrown in. We’re big fans of Stevens after his turn in The Guest. Brie is one of our favorite working actors with killer turns in GLOW and Community. Also having Shameless alum White alongside A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night’s Vand means the rental boasts stellar cast. Plus, IFC has been doing a great job at supplying viewers with scary original movies during the COVID-19 crisis.
