In news that we first saw on CNBCPepsiCo and Boston Beer are coming together to create Hard Mtn Dew. And this product means business. So far, it appears the drink will come in four flavors: original, black cherry, watermelon, and Baja Blast. In addition, the cans feature an updated vision of the Mountain Dew Logo set against fierce, wild animals. The cans seem to portray an eagle, a bear, and a snake, respectively. Once again, Hard Mtn Dew is evident; proceed with caution as you drink this Mountain Dew.

The press release for the drink reveals the following. First, it will have an Alcohol by Volume (ABV) of 5%. Second, in a surprise twist, it will contain no sugar.

Kirk Tanner, PepsiCo Beverages North America CEO, shares:

For 80 years MTN DEW has challenged the status quo, bringing bold flavors and unmatched beverage innovation to millions of fans. The Boston Beer Company partnership combines two recognized leaders in our respective industries to address the changing tastes of drinkers and we are thrilled at the opportunity to create HARD MTN DEW that maintains the bold, citrus flavor fans know and expect.

Despite these many evolutions, it sounds like the heart of the beverage will remain. For those Mountain Dew lovers among us, this could be the perfect brew to try. A taste of the future mixed with a slightly fizzy touch of nostalgia. We wonder what color the drink inside will be.

But when will this hard Mountain Dew become available? The release shares that consumers should anticipate the product in late February 2022. In the meanwhile, there are plenty of other fun, nostalgic drinks to sip on. Of course, if all else fails, there’s always the real thing!
