WandaVision on Disney+ will soon be upon us, and anticipation is quite high. This nine-episode series looks unlike anything we’ve seen in the MCU before. Seeking to mix Tom King’s Vision miniseries House of M with a healthy dose of classic American sitcoms, WandaVision promises to be a trip. And then some.
Our own Hector Navarro got to chat with the cast of the Marvel Studios series, including Elizabeth Olsen (Wanda Maximoff), Paul Bettany (Vision), Kathryn Hahn (Agnes) and Teyonah Parris (Monica Rambeau). Several very interesting tidbits about the series were revealed.
To start, WandaVision has been in the works for longer than previously thought. Both Olsen and Bettany said they were approached by Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige to continue their characters right after making Avengers: Infinity War back in 2017. Vision seemed pretty definitively dead in that movie, so Bettany was truly in shock when asked return. He admits that for this show, he brought a little Bryan Cranston to his performance. But settle down, Breaking Bad fans; he means Malcolm in the Middle/TV sitcom dad Cranston.

Kathryn Hahn wouldn’t confirm rumors about her nosy neighbor character Agnes. Is she the MCU’s version of witch Agatha Harkness? It’s all still a mystery. But she did confirm that she’d play a live-action version of her Into the Spider-Verse character Doc Ock if ever asked. Hey, Katee Sackhoff got to reprise her animated role of Bo Katan on The Mandalorian in live-action. Anything is possible these days.

Finally, our adult Monica Rambeau makes her debut in WandaVision, played by Teyonah Parris. In the comics, Monica has gone by many different superhero codenames. When asked which one she likes best—Captain Marvel, Photon, or Pulsar—Parris wouldn’t actually commit to a favorite yet. (We actually hope it’s Spectrum. Monica had a lot of codenames). Teyonah Parris is already returning for Captain Marvel 2. Maybe fan’s dreams will come true, and we see her lead an Avengers team of her own.
WandaVision is already looking to bring a type of weird we’ve never seen before in the MCU. And we are seriously here for all of it. The first two episodes drop on Disney+ on January 15.
