Of course you’ve heard of cosplay, but get ready to be dazzled by cospaint! Like cosplaying, cospainting is changing your look by being inspired by a character’s appearance or personality. Instead of working with fabric and shoes, however, cospainters typically use body and face makeup to turn themselves into works of art. It’s pretty cool.
o-ji is a makeup artist, anime cospainter, and cosplayer in Japan whose work will delight fans of Demon Slayer, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, and more. From videos like the demonic Gyokko (above) to photos of popular anime characters, o-ji’s artistry is a wonder to behold. She’s obviously a big fan of Demon Slayer heroes and villains alike, creating stunning makeup looks based on one of the lower demons, Mukago, as well one of the Hashira, the Love Pillar Mitsuri Kanroji.
From her bright colors to attention to detail, every look is an epic work of art. o-ji incorporates anime’s large eye style into her own appearance, creating mesmerizing looks based on familiar characters that are instantly recognizable. Whether it’s her own take on a monstrous titan from Attack on Titan or a beloved Sailor Scout, her work is both bold and beautiful.
And, like the rest of the world, o-ji fell in love with the precious Baby Yoda and expressed it through a festive cospaint project at the end of 2019.
It’s the little things that are getting us through these stressful times, and this delightful dose of creativity is definitely something that helps brighten our day. Follow o-ji on Instagram for more incredible art, cosplay and cospaint!
