Sparkle Syrup Will Add Some Edible Shimmer to Any Breakfast

Ron Swanson once asked, “Why would anybody ever eat anything besides breakfast food?” We have no idea. But a new option for the most important meal of the day definitely has way too much pizzaz for Ron. It’s something Leslie Knope would absolutely love though. Because sparkly syrup will add a whole lot of (edible) glitter to your waffles.

Runamok Maple in Fairfax, Vermont has released a special, limited-edition syrup (which we first heard about at the food blog Candy Hunting) that will add glitz to any dish or drink. Their new Sparkle Syrup really shimmers thanks to the addition of a “food-safe pearlescent mica.” The “sparkles” are completely flavorless though, so they don’t change the taste of the pure maple syrup.

The company says Sparkle Syrup “was created with one sole purpose: to make you smile” during a difficult year.

“Life has been very, very serious lately and it is safe to say that 2020 has left no one unscathed. And while we can’t fix the big stuff, we can offer this little bit of whimsy to help make everyone smile.”

Runamok Maple suggests putting this shiny sweet treat on pancakes or French toast “for a shimmery breakfast.” You can also dip them apples, make a homemade maple lemonade, or add some to your preferred cocktail “for a little razzle dazzle.” They also seem like a natural choice for Eggo’s new Unicorn Waffles.

Sparkle Syrup is the latest addition to the company’s Limited Release program. They expect the small batch won’t last long, so don’t wait if you want some. You can pre-order a 250 mL bottle now for $16.95. It will be available on September 1, 2020. Even when the syrup is gone though it will still bring some sparkle to your breakfast table. The bottle’s label and medallion are both holograms and take on different colors in different lights.

Ron Swanson might not care about that, but Leslie Knope would.
