BTS Footage of Keanu Reeves Voice Acting for TOY STORY 4 Is Precious

Keanu Reeves is having the best year ever. The Canadian-American actor ass-kicked his way through John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, the third installment in the popular action series, and then stole hearts in Netflix’s Always Be My Maybe. He’s the subject of loving features in The New Yorker and Twitter appraisal and thirst memes. He’s at the top of his game, and he’s showing no signs of slowing down. That’s why, out of all of the talented actors featured in this new behind-the-scenes look at the voice recording sessions for the upcoming Toy Story 4, we only have eyes for Keanu.

In the film, Reeves plays Duke Caboom, a mustached, Canadian daredevil toy who suffers from low self-esteem and who thinks he let down his previous owner by being unable to perform all of the tricks the ads said he could. That sounds heartbreaking in that particular, emotion-wrenching Toy Story way, and we can see from Reeves’ performance in these clips that he’s really laying on the melancholy aspect of his character. We have an inkling that Duke Caboom could become one of our favorite new characters.

In addition to Reeves, the behind-the-scenes clip also features voice acting work from Tom Hanks (Woody), Tim Allen (Buzz Lightyear), Annie Potts (Bo Peep), Tony Hale (Forky), Christina Hendricks (Gabby Gabby), Keegan-Michael Key (Ducky), and Ally Maki (Giggle McDimples). Director Josh Cooley also pops in with each actor to deliver some script and story insight to guide their performances.

Toy Story 4 is a road trip movie featuring our favorite toys from the original trilogy, who were given by Andy to a little girl named Bonnie. The film reintroduces the toys to Bo Peep, who was missing from Toy Story 3, and features new characters like the aforementioned Duke Caboom, Forky, Gabby Gabby, Ducky, and Giggle McDimples. The film opens on June 21.
