Haim Releases “Right Now” Music Video Directed by Paul Thomas Anderson

We’ve been patiently waiting for the follow-up to Haim’s killer 2013 debut album, Days Are Gone, and now its arrival is nigh. The band just announced that Something to Tell You is set to drop on on July 7, and to celebrate, they’ve shared a music video for a new track called “Right Now.” To make matters even more wonderful, the video is directed by none other than  Paul Thomas Anderson.

The clip is actually a live studio performance of the song, and it turns out that the connection between the director and the Haim sisters goes back a lot further than this meeting. As Billboard notes, the sisters were guests on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 radio show yesterday and told the story of how their mother was actually Anderson’s art teacher back in the day. The two parties realized and bonded over this relationship a couple years ago, and when it came time to get feedback on the new album, they reached out to Anderson:
“We wanted to show this music to someone and Paul popped in our head and we emailed him and said, ‘Hey, we have this chunk of songs. We want to show you them and get your opinion.’ He instantly emailed back and was like, ‘Date and time/place? Tell me.’ He comes to the studio the next day and we showed him the songs and were listening to it and he was like, ‘Why don’t we just shoot this?'”

What a truly small world it is, one that brings talented and creative people together for some wonderful art. Hit us up on Twitter and let us know what you think of the video!
