GAME OF THRONES Season 8 Trailer Brings the Great War to Westeros

After seven seasons, winter is truly and finally here in the first full trailer for Game of Thrones‘ final season. It’s a battle that is coming straight to the doors of Winterfell, and it’s bringing more terror than we feared. Seven bloody hells! The first full trailer for the last season of Game of Thrones has finally arrived and it is somehow everything we expected and more. So far, all of the footage we have seen from the show’s final year has been about Daenerys arriving at Winterfell, but this promo focuses on the nightmare of another arrival to the Stark family home, as the combined forces of the living prepare to face the White Walkers. We’ve always known that was coming, but seeing Arya Stark—ARYA STARK!—terrified and running for safety has us freaked out about how dark things are really going to get in Westeros. Beyond seeing Arya running for her life through the castle, it’s notable that the primary shot of Cersei in a near empty King’s Landing shows her looking sad. Even while we see the Golden Company, her new mercenary force from Essos, coming to strengthen her forces, being all alone has apparently left her questioning her decisions.

That’s in contrast to Jaime, who has reached Winterfell where he is saying he intends to keep his vow to fight for the living. While no one there (except for Brienne) will be happy to see him, it’s unlikely they will turn him away since everyone looks absolutely petrified about the dead coming for them.

We’ve waited a long, long time for this final season, but if this intense, emotional, action-packed trailer is any indication of what is to come in the show’s final season it will have all been worth the wait.
