An Old Foe Returns in New COBRA KAI Season 4 Trailer

In The Tempest Shakespeare wrote “misery acquaints a man with strange bedfellows.” And since John Kreese is particularly adept at making others miserable, it’s not a total surprise he managed to do the seemingly impossible and unite Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence. But the new trailer for Cobra Kai season four shows the two old rivals have more to overcome than just their past and one evil sensei. Because Kreese has help too. The Karate Kid Part III’s Terry Silver is finally ready to rejoin the fight.

Imagine if every community’s teenage karate tournament led to this much strife, anxiety, and chaos. Lives completely upended. Civil wars between families and high school students. Entire lifelong identities wrapped up in the results. Civilization couldn’t survive. But all that drama makes for an entertaining show. And this fantastic trailer makes clear season four of Cobra Kai is ready deliver another great chapter in one of pop culture’s oldest stories. (Seriously, The Karate Kid came out in 1984. The show returns on December 31, 2021. Don’t do the math!)

Here’s the fourth season’s official synopsis from Netflix:

“Season 4 finds the Miyagi-Do and Eagle Fang dojos joining forces to take down Cobra Kai at the All Valley Under 18 Karate Tournament… and whoever loses must hang up their gi. As Samantha and Miguel try to maintain the dojo alliance and Robby goes all in at Cobra Kai, the fate of the Valley has never been more precarious. What tricks does Kreese have up his sleeve? Can Daniel and Johnny bury their decades-long hatchet to defeat Kreese? Or will Cobra Kai become the face of karate in the valley?”

Terry Silver is a pretty great “trick” to have up your sleeve.

In addition to Ralph Macchio, William Zabka, and Martin Kove, the series also stars Courtney Henggeler (Amanda LaRusso), Xolo Maridueña (Miguel Diaz), Tanner Buchanan (Robby Keene), Mary Mouser (Samantha LaRusso), Jacob Bertrand (Hawk), Gianni Decenzo (Demetri), Vanessa Rubio (Carmen), Peyton List (Tory), Dallas Dupree Young (Kenny), Oona O’Brien (Devon), and Griffin Santopietro (Anthony). And of course this season marks the glorious return of Thomas Ian Griffith’s sinister sensei.

We didn’t need this trailer to know how dangerous Silver can be when paired with Kreese. Hopefully two unlikely, strange bedfellows are strong enough together to finally do what neither ever could truly do alone. This might be their final chance to stop the tempest that is the Cobra Kai dojo. And if they don’t, they can be miserable together in season five.
