Directors Joe and Anthony Russo unveiled the first trailer for Avengers: Doomsday earlier this year at CinemaCon in Las Vegas. Nerdist was in attendance to see it. Or at least, one of us was, Tai. The rest of our superhero-loving staff has been stuck in the same boat as everyone else since then. We’ve been waiting. And waiting. Aaaaaand waiting for our first full look at the movie that will mark Robert Downey Jr.’s return to the mega-franchise he helped build. Now our wait is finally over. Doctor Doom is here. The film’s first officially released trailer for everybody shows brings three universes together for an epic multiversal war. You can check out Doomsday‘s star-studded bonanaza of a trailer below.
…..Thor is going to die, right? That’s what’s going to happen? And maybe Steve Rogers, too? When the God of Thunder is talking about needing a “miracle” and Victor Von Doom is stopping Mjölnir with his pinky finger in only the Avengers: Doomsday trailer, everything is clearly on the table. One thing we know for sure is that a whole lot of Avengers are going to fight a whole lot of X-Men. The movie’s official synopsis makes that clear. It also teases that eventually they will all realize who their real beef is with.

While we only see him under his mask in Avengers: Doomsday‘s trailer, Robert Downey Jr.’s presence is very much felt here. His Doctor Doom, despite only just showing up in the franchise, is presented as the biggest threat any of these heroes have ever faced. This isn’t about the destruction of just one universe like with Thanos. The entire multiverse is at risk because of one man.
Downey, Chris Evans, and Chris Hemsworth are obviously not the only huge stars in this movie. The film stars….just about everyone. The original chair cast announcement of 27 names has only grown longer as more and more MCU alums have confirmed their role in the film. And is Avengers: Doomsday trailer reveals to us, every single one of these heroes, or all of them together, is not enough to stop Doctor Doom. That’s a scary thought.
When Will Avengers: Doomsday Release?
Now that the wait for the film’s first released trailer is over, a new wait begins. The multiverse will collide during the holiday season. Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Doomsday comes to theaters on December 18, 2026.
