Later this year Doctor Doom will take on the entire multiverse. It’s sort of a big deal. Despite being just months away, though, we still don’t know that much about the MCU’s next big event film. We haven’t seen much from it, either. But that changed today. Marvel Studios provided a new look and insights into Avengers: Doomsday, specifically a trailer, during a presentation at this year’s CinemaCon in Las Vegas.
We are at Xavier’s school when Professor X sees something bright and there’s something coming that no one will be able to deter. Bucky, Sam Wilson, Bucky, and Fantastic Four are at the Avengers headquarters with Thor. Most importantly, we see our first real glimpse of RDJ as Doctor Doom and he looks badass. We see Gambit encountering Shang-Chi in the Doomsday trailer, the Wakandads meeting with Fantastic Four, Mystique changing her appearance, and Thor coming face to face with Doom as his body lights up with electricity.

Thor says that they are going to need a miracle for this threat. The trailer ends with Thor seeing someone and saying that it’s not possible, only for Mjolnir to fall into the hands of none other than Steve Rogers, who has long hair, a beard, and a smile.
And guess what? Chris Evans and Robert Downey, Jr. hit the stage for some playful banter and to hype fans up about this film. It was a great way to wrap the Disney presentation indeed.

Robert Downey Jr. isn’t the only big-time MCU alum coming back. The film comes from Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame directors Joe and Anthony Russo. Their longtime collaborator Stephen McFeely wrote the script. And Alan Silvestri is scoring his fifth Avengers film. Also there’s roughly 700 people in the cast, which includes an also returning Chris Evans.
Avengers: Doomsday will serve as a holiday season gift from Disney. It arrives in theaters on December 16, 2026. Or at least it will in this universe. You’ll have to ask Doctor Doom about its premiere date in other dimensions.
