A Guide to the Merch at Avengers Campus

We’ve already told you about how packed Disney California Adventure’s new land, Avengers Campus, will be when it opens on July 18. It’s going to have a thrilling new ride, WEB Slingers: A Spider-Man Adventure, a crazy new eatery in Pym Test Kitchen, and all manner of costumed hero walking around all the time. But that’s what you’ll see and eat, but what can you take home with you? As you might expect, Avengers Campus will have a bevy of new merchandise exclusive to that part of the park. And fans of Spider-Man should be very excited.

The big retailer in Avengers Campus, in addition to The Collector’s Warehouse, will be WEB Suppliers, adjacent to WEB Slingers. Maybe the most exciting bit of merch will be a remote controlled Spider-Bot.

While the Spider-Bots in the ride are malfunctioning and require capture, these ones are fully under your control. Guests will be able to control all eight legs of this little guy and project symbols on walls or flat surfaces. And if your friend has one, they can battle each other using light beams. Additionally, you’ll be able to upgrade your bots with costumes and attributes from other Avengers.

Once you get your base robot, you can purchase Tactical Upgrades. Each one, modeled after other Avengers like Black Panther, Iron Man, Black Widow, Ant-Man, and the Wasp, will give your Spider-Bot a distinctly that-hero look. But it’s not all just aesthetics; the upgrades come with their own advantages in battle. For example, the Iron Man upgrade gives allows the bot to recover from damage, while the Ant-Man upgrade allows for longer crouching.

As a final upgrade to the Spider-Bot, kids can get their own special Spider-Man backpack with a snap-on web to affix their Spider-Bot to the front. Your sidekick should go everywhere with you!

But wait, there’s more (obviously)! Funko POP! fans will also get to procure two Park exclusive vinyl figures. The first is Spider-Man, wearing his Avengers Campus-exclusive suit and capturing a rogue Spider-Bot. The second is an exclusive Iron Man with his Mark LXXX suit, specific to the park.

More Spider-Man awesomeness, you demand? Wow, you’re insatiable! Well, there’s plenty more, including Spider-Man Light Goggles and Web Shooters. Sold separately, these will help you feel like Spidey in new ways. The Light Goggles look like the eyes on Spider-Man’s iconic mask, but the LED readouts display 17 distinct expressions. The Web Shooters don’t shoot real webs (sorry) but they do emit light and sound.

Lastly for kids, there are S.T.E.M. Compound Kits. “Using these kits, guests can learn the science behind some of their favorite Super Heroes as they create webs like Spider-Man or Gamma Glow Goo inspired by the Incredible Hulk.” Think of these like a more scientific version of Creepy Crawlers.
