A KNIGHT OF THE SEVEN KINGDOMS Season 2 Casts Three Major Roles

Dunk and Egg hit the road at the end of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms‘ first season. Fans of George R.R. Martin’s novellas know where the pair are heading and who they’ll meet during their next adventure. Now we know who will join stars Peter Claffey and Dexter Sol Ansell when they get there. The series has cast three major roles for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms‘ second season.

Variety reports Peter Mullan (Braveheart, Children of Men), Lucy Boynton (Sing Street, Bohemian Rhapsody), and Babou Ceesay (Alien: Earth, The Best of Enemies) will join HBO’s latest Westerosi hit. All three will play significant parts as the show’s sophomore outing will adapt Martin’s second Dunk and Egg story, 2003′ “The Sworn Sword.” In A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms season two, Mullan will play Ser Eustace Osgrey. Boynton will play Lady Rohanne Webber (a.k.a. The Red Widow). And Ceesay will play Ser Bennis of the Brown Shield.

The three roles represent the most important additions to the show in season two, which will tell an even more intimate story than season one. “The Sworn Sword” will see Dunk and his secret prince squire serving as a hedge knight for Ser Eustace. But in a Realm where old wounds still feel fresh, even minor castles can find themselves dealing with some big problems. (That’s why it’s always good to have a big knight on hand to help out.)

With Eustace, Lady Rohanne, and Bennis all cast, there are few major roles left in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms season two. At least in terms of characters, we know from the novellas. Showrunner Ira Parker could obviously add more. But for now, we’ll be keeping an eye out to learn who will play Ser Lucas Inchfield.

Considering the popularity of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms first season, HBO can probably get just about anyone they want.
