JEOPARDY! Goes Digital With Spinoff YouTube Edition

Need even more Jeopardy! in your life? Really? How many variations of one particular game show trivia can anyone want? We’re going to continue to find out, because the iconic series is launching another spinoff. Ken Jennings is going to host Jeopardy! YouTube Edition, an online show for online people with competitors famous for being online. You can catch the first full episode, featuring Monét X Change, Rebecca Black and Brennan Lee Mulligan, below.

Sony Pictures Television is bringing one of its most famous brands to YouTube. This newest version of the show will embrace its platform. Hosted by Ken Jennings, Jeopardy! YouTube Edition will see online creators and YouTubers playing for their favorite charities. As mentioned, the first show, which debuted on March 31 at 9PM EST, saw drag performer and The Traitors star Monét X Change playing for GLAAD against Rebecca Black of “Friday” fame and Dimension20’s Brennan Lee Mulligan. They will both play for The Trevor Project.

The trio’s extensive experience creating online content will be key to winning. Here’s the format’s official description:

They will compete across a dynamic range of clues that blend the classic format and style of Jeopardy! with the energy of internet culture with categories spanning YouTube-inspired topics—from viral trends to the rich 20+ year history of the platform—along with custom video clues featuring notable YouTube talent.

Okay, now we get it. It’s not that anyone necessarily needs yet another Jeopardy! spinoff. It’s that the terminally online need their own chance to shine.
