Insomniac Games found great success with Marvel’s Spider-Man in 2018. So much so that they announced the next game in the series back in June during a PlayStation 5 event: Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Starring Miles as the hero in the mask, the game is set about a year after the first game. Miles finds his neighborhood of Harlem in the middle of a battle. And he’s going to encounter more than villains and trouble. He will cross paths Spider-Man the cat, a.k.a. Spider-Cat! The little ginger feline wears a Spider-Man mask and we are not ready.
Game Informer shared the first look at Spider-Cat on Wednesday. The below video shows how Miles meets his new feline friend. Watch until the very end to see Spider-Cat in action.
I squealed with joy so loudly that it’s a wonder my neighbors didn’t check on me.
Spider-Man the cat is a friendly bodega cat who clearly has a pretty comfortable life. (Side note: if you want to see lots of adorable IRL bodega cats, follow this Twitter account). Something clearly happens and Spider-Man the cat goes missing. Miles finds the cat safe and sound and returns him to his owner. All of this on its own is cute enough. But then it gets even better.

This kitty from the side quest gets a new nickname: Spider-Cat. He gets a Spider-Man mask of his very own and makes himself at home in Miles’ backpack. Spider-Cat’s ready to help stop crime by delivering some finishing moves. He’s the best. You know that he would be friends with Goose from Captain Marvel. And I’m already looking forward to seeing a cosplayer wear this Spider-Man suit and carry around an orange cat plush in their backpack.
