Disney Shares Droolworthy Tonga Toast Recipe

Another day, another mouth-watering recipe courtesy of #DisneyMagicMoments. Throughout this quarantine, Disney has shared several famous recipes for treats in the parks and resorts that are currently closed due to COVID-19. And they’ve just added another one to the list: Tonga Toast! The Disney Parks Blog released the recipe for this incredibly decadent breakfast that has been a staple at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort in Florida since 1971. It’s a guest favorite on the menus at both the Kona Cafe and Capt. Cook’s in the resort. Uhh, yes please.

For those unfamiliar with Tonga Toast, it’s over-the-top in the best way. It’s “banana-stuffed sourdough bread, battered, deep-fried, and dusted with cinnamon-sugar.” Elevated French toast is our favorite kind of French toast. Maybe it’s not the kind of breakfast you’ll want to eat every day but no judgment if you do.  But wow, do I want to make this treat right now.

This relatively straightforward recipe calls for bananas, eggs, milk, sugar, cinnamon, and sourdough bread. You probably have many of these things in your kitchen already. So whether you want a fun at home brunch staple, or a quick activity to do with your kids, this Tonga Toast recipe will be an easy one to add into your rotation. Watch how easily it comes together:

Sorry but also not sorry if this makes you drool.

Since the beginning of quarantine, Disney has shared the recipes for their Mickey beignets, churros, and Dole Whip, among others. They’re trying to bring a taste of the theme parks to everyone who can’t currently visit the parks (though Shanghai Disneyland has now reopened). These little touches, along with things like video of the full fireworks display from Magic Kingdom, make people staying at home feel like they can still have a little dose of Disney Magic.
