Kevin Feige Gives a Marvel Cinematic Universe Update

When the end credits rolled on Avengers: Infinity War, who knew Marvel would still be keeping us in the dark about the title of Avengers 4 nearly six months later? But that’s exactly what happened. Fans are eager for any and all details about the upcoming sequel. Fortunately, Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige recently made an appearance at a Black Panther screening in Los Angeles and offered some updates. Today’s Nerdist News breaks down the most relevant tidbits.

Join guest host Amy “Celestial Slayer” Vorpahl as she runs down Feige’s comments to reporter Erick Weber (via io9). First, the good news. We’re, unsurprisingly, getting an Avengers 4 trailer before the end of the year. The other news isn’t too bad or shocking, because we already had time to process it when the film disappeared from the release schedule. Feige reconfirmed Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is “on hold.” Presumably, Marvel wants to line up a new director before getting back to its cosmic misfits.

The biggest surprise came when Feige was asked about Namor the Sub Mariner, Marvel’s king of Atlantis (and predates DC’s Aquaman). According to Feige, Namor could still appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it’s just a question of “if and when.” That’s intriguing, because Namor’s rights have been tied up at Universal, the same company that has most of the Hulk characters.

It’s unclear if Universal still has Namor’s film under their banner, but we’d love to see the two companies work something out. After all, we’re overdue to see She-Hulk join the Avengers and practice superhuman law on the big screen.

Are you still hoping to see Namor and She-Hulk in the MCU? Let us know in the comment section below!
