Bryan Fuller Joins Anne Rice for THE VAMPIRE CHRONICLES TV Series

It’s been over a year since author Anne Rice and her son Christopher Rice announced that together, they were producing a television series based on her Vampire Chronicles series of books. Not long after, the pair announced that the newly formed Paramount Television, together with Anonymous Content, would be their partners in producing the series.

Now another famous name has been added to the mix, as The Hollywood Reporter, (via io9), revealed that Bryan Fuller, former showrunner of American Gods, Hannibal and Pushing Daisies, is working with the Rices on the pilot episodes of the series, and he may stay on for more.

When asked about the network’s much-anticipated  Vampire Lestat based series, Paramount TV president Amy Powell said “Bryan Fuller is working with Anne Rice and Chris, who are writing the pilot. We are hoping he chooses to stay on and potentially showrun.”  Fans of the Rices knew some kind of announcement surrounding the series was imminent, as Anne Rice posted that major news would be coming very soon in the new year on her Facebook page. Additionally, Christopher Rice tweeted out the following:

Rice fans know that Elliot Goldenthal wrote the musical score for the original Vampire Chronicles film project, 1994’s Interview with the Vampire, so clearly this was a meeting about Lestat and company. With two of those chairs no doubt occupied by the Rices, its a good guess that chair #3 was occupied by none other than Bryan Fuller. And based on Fuller’s recent tweets, we all should have guessed he was working on this project, as he had this to say recently as well:

If Fuller does indeed come on board as showrunner, we hope he has a better time working on this series that he did working on American Gods and Star Trek: Discovery. Fuller departed Discovery before the pilot episode was even shot, and many of his ideas for the series were discarded. And after an amazing first season, Fuller also departed American Gods, causing actress Gillian Anderson to depart the show as well. We can only hope things go more smoothly with Lestat, Louis, and Rice’s other vampires should this all work out.

What do you make of Bryan Fuller potentially working with Rice bringing her vampires to (un)life? Be sure to let us know down below in the comments.
