There are many murmurs about the upcoming Prime Video Fourth Wing TV series. But one of the biggest questions fans have is, “How is Michael B. Jordan involved?” Yes, Michael B. Jordan, the Best Actor Oscar-winning actor, is going to help bring the popular Romantasy series to life in all its dragon-filled glory. And for many fans, that sounds like some very good news. But Michael B. Jordan isn’t going to be acting in the Fourth Wing TV series… At least, not yet. Here’s the role he will play.
Michael B. Jordan Is Executive Producing the Prime Video Fourth Wing TV Series
As much as we’d love to see Michael B. Jordan flying on a dragon and steaming up the joint at Basgiath War College, for now, Jordan will only be present behind the scenes of the Fourth Wing series based on the beloved novels. He’ll serve as Executive Producer through his production company, Outlier Society, which is developing the series for Prime Video.
But what does that actually mean about Michael B. Jordan’s involvement in the Fourth Wing series? Well, it’s pretty hard to say. Sometimes Executive Producers are largely financially involved, while at other times they really help drive the story.
For now, Michael B. Jordan seems to be a very hands-on Executive Producer for Fourth Wing. He even shared thoughts about casting for the series, noting, “When it’s done the right way, I think you can have a nice balance where casting won’t be distracting. It allows people to, like, fall in love with the characters that they have imagined in their head without any baggage, with projecting their own feelings on certain casts.” And concluded, “Just know, it’s nothing cheesy coming out. It ain’t no obvious choices. I think it’s going to be something that feels honest.”
Ultimately, Michael B. Jordan shared with Deadline that he’s extremely invested in the journey of the Fourth Wing series and pleasing its fans, “We are making sure that this is going to be an exciting show that delivers on all of the things the fans want and some of the things that they won’t be expecting either. But trust me, I know how beloved this franchise IP is, and we’re diligently…We’re in the lab; we’re cooking up. We got it. It’s coming. It’s early stages, but I feel how much people care about this one. It’s not lost on us.”
Michael B. Jordan Is a Big Nerd
While we can’t with complete certainty discuss how big a Fourth Wing nerd Michael B. Jordan is, we DO know he is a big nerd, generally. In fact, we’ve literally watched him explain My Hero Academia to his fellow actors. Additionally, as we wrote before, “Anime is just a huge part of Jordan’s personal and professional life. He modeled the fight scenes in Creed 3 after Hajime no Ippo. And, during a previous questions video with Vogue, Jordan said that Tokyo is one of his favorite places in the world because of anime.”
Even though Fourth Wing is a book and not an anime, Michael B. Jordan clearly knows a thing or two about fandom.
Will Michael B. Jordan Star in the Fourth Wing TV Series?
But will Michael B. Jordan star in the Fourth Wing series? I think it’s safe to say everyone hopes so. And Jordan himself isn’t necessarily ruling it out. For now, he’s repeatedly said in answer to that question, “I don’t know.”
It is a bit early to be sure. But one thing we do know with certainty is that Michael B. Jordan doesn’t just have a little bit of involvement with the Prime Video Fourth Wing series; he is ALL in. (And hopefully we’ll see him riding on a dragon soon.)
