WEDNESDAY Teaser Captures Classic Addams Family Vibes

Ever since it was announced that Tim Burton was doing a series about Wednesday Addams for Netflix, fans have wondered what took so long. The man behind Beetlejuice and characters from The Addams Family? Seems like a match made in Goth heaven. Well, we finally have our first teaser trailer for Wednesday, starring Jenna Ortega as the best Addams offspring. (No offense, Pugsley and Pubert.) And she even brought Thing with her.

You can watch the first official teaser trailer for Wednesday right here:

Certainly, Jenna Ortega has the look of Wednesday Addams down. This will be the first time we’ve seen an adult Wednesday in any movie or series, and we’re here for it. Wednesday is all about the title character’s days as a student at the Nevermore Academy in the small town of Jericho.

In this eight-part series, Wednesday starts to exhibit psychic abilities. Which makes us wonder if Nevermore Academy is like a Goth version of Xavier’s School from X-Men. When a monstrous killing spree starts threatening her school, she has to solve the supernatural mystery. And find out what it all has to do with her famous parents, and an event from 25 years before. Young Gomez and Morticia flashbacks maybe?

Catherine Zeta-Jones and Luis Guzmán play Wednesday’s glamorous parents, Gomez and Morticia Addams. Also in the Wednesday cast is Gwendoline Christie as the Nevermore Academy headmaster, and the ’90s big-screen Wednesday, Christina Ricci, is also part of the show in an undisclosed role. Given her long working relationship with Tim Burton, going back to Sleepy Hollow, this just feels right. All the regular Addams clan are popping up in the series as well, including Pugsley and Lurch. Here’s hoping we see Cousin Itt and Pubert as well!  Let’s hope this show has all the Addams Family Value vibes, and then some.
