The Walking Dead: Dead City is back for season three, and things are very messy. Maggie has a tenuous relationship with Negan (again) after her son Herschel totally betrayed her for the Dama. Based on trailers, it seems she will stick around in NYC and try to find a home there while she tries to save her son and others. Meanwhile, based on SDCC early footage, Negan is just a vibe after finding a weird dude and his bar decades into the apocalypse. Dead City made its way to SDCC and revealed more about the return of Beth, Maggie’s sister, in season three.
As us fans already know, Beth died a lonnnggg time ago in The Walking Dead season five at Grady Memorial Hospital after Dawn shot her in the head. We all remember that incredibly sad scene as Daryl carried her limp body and Maggie sobbed. It was truly a sad moment. Since then, Maggie let us know that she’s never forgotten her dear sister. And we will get a reminder of that in Dead City season three in an alternate reality episode where the apocalypse never happened and Beth is alive.
During the SDCC panel, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who plays Negan, called the Christmas themed episode a “Hallmark episode,” and I personally cannot wait to see it. I love AU TWD fanfic, especially as a Richonne lover, and I just want all of my precious cinnamon rolls to be happy people without walkers and terrible people trying to kill them.
Maggie Rhee actor Lauren Cohan said this alternate universe episode is her favorite during her 16 years of being in The Walking Dead universe, so we want to see what happens with Maggie and Beth.
