THE VAMPIRE LESTAT Announces Season 4, ‘QUEEN OF THE DAMNED’

It’s all happening. At San Diego Comic-Con, The Vampire Lestat took over Hall H to thunderous applause. In addition to streaming portions of the incredible The Vampire Lestat: One Night Only Live concert show, which is coming to streaming on AMC+ on August 23, the series had a very important announcement. The Vampire Lestat is officially renewed for season four, and it is getting a new showrunner, Hannah Moscovitch, and a new name, Queen of the Damned.

The Vampire Lestat was Lestat’s story, but now it’s time to turn the camera around to some other tales in the universe. Of course, one of those tales is that of Akasha, the Queen of the Damned, who we already know from The Vampire Lestat is about to wake up… And not in a good mood. Akasha will wreak destruction upon the world in The Vampire Lestat season four, but the question is… what will lead her there? And we know Queen of the Damned will certainly take some time to show us that she…is…the answer.

“In The Vampire Lestat, Mark [Johnson], Rolin, Hannah and this extraordinary cast delivered an unforgettable season filled with propulsive storytelling that captivated the passionate and engaged fans of this franchise,” said Dan McDermott, Chief Content Officer of AMC Global Media and President of AMC Studios. “We can’t wait to continue the journey with Queen of the Damned, one of the most iconic stories in Anne Rice’s mythology, and watch our established and beloved characters confront Akasha with their world, and ours, very much hanging in the balance.”

What Does The Vampire Lestat Season Four’s New Title, Queen of the Damned, Mean?

Queen of the Damned refers to more than just Akasha, though. The Anne Rice novel of the same name is a collection of short stories that bring many different points of view into play. Showrunner Rolin Jones recently shared, “The next book coming up, called ‘Queen of the Damned,’ has very strict point-of-view chapters, and that should be a clue to how we might be considering the next season.”

Namely, we’re interested in the chapter called “The Story of Daniel the Devil’s Minion, or the Boy from Interview With the Vampire” being adapted onto our screens, where we can see it. This chapter tells the story of the love between Armand and Daniel. The Vampire Lestat started this tale for us, but we’re ready for Queen of the Damned to REALLY TELL IT. And we’re also ready for Assad Zaman’s Armand and Eric Bogosian’s Daniel to kiss, please and thank you.
