THE MANDALORIAN’s Blu-ray Bonus Features Reveal the Creation of Grogu’s ‘Space Stroller’

At first, the rule about the original Star Wars and Marvel Studios Disney+ shows was that the platform would be the only place to view them. But thankfully, Disney softened up on that stance this year. It released WandaVision, Loki, and now seasons one and two of The Mandalorian in 4K Ultra HD disc steelbook and Blu-ray steelbook forms. The Mandalorian’s first two seasons arrive on December 12, just in time for the holidays. Both sets also include a ton of special features, and you can preview one of them right here. And yes, it involves little Grogu.

This Mandalorian 4K Ultra HD/Blu-ray bonus feature is a nice reminder of how those responsible for creating The Mandalorian leaned so heavily into practical effects. At least they certainly did so when it came to all things concerning Baby Yoda (as we only knew him in season one) and his dad. That they took so much care in creating his pram, or as we once said, “his little floating space bassinet,” says a lot. We never grow tired of seeing that tiny puppet come to life, endearing audiences in a way CGI could have never done.

So why should you buy physical media copies of shows like The Mandalorian? Especially when they are a click away on Disney+? Well, for starters, you just never know when shows or films will disappear from any streaming platform. We admit the idea of any Star Wars series ever vanishing from Disney+ is extremely slim, yet stranger things have happened. Second, and most importantly, the physical media versions just look and sound better. Streaming versions of everything are compressed, allowing for less visual and audio clarity. With visually stunning shows with lots of background details, you want the best video/audio presentation. And right now, that’s still on disc. We’re sure the 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray versions of The Mandalorian seasons one and two are absolutely stunning. Their cover art certainly is.
