The IT: CHAPTER TWO Trailer Has Arrived

Two years ago, the seminal classic horror novel It was brought to the big screen for the first time. Yes, it had an iconic 90s TV miniseries, but Stephen King fans had been clamoring for a bigger, better take on the subject material, a massive tome about a horrific evil haunting the small town of Derry, Maine. They got their wish in 2017 when Andy Muschietti brought the story back to life with a film that broke box office records and became the biggest horror movie of the year.

The first It told the story of the Loser’s Club as kids, when they were plagued by a mysterious, boogey-man-like creature that takes many forms, though he usually appears as the clown Pennywise (played by a hulking, terrifying Bill Skarsgård). The sequel will follow the Loser’s Club as adults who come back to Derry to once again face their greatest fears. The first trailer for It: Chapter Two dropped this morning and gives us our first proper look at the grown-up versions of these characters.

The trailer spends most of its time on an iconic scene from the book, when an adult Beverly Marsh revisits her childhood home and encounters its new resident, an elderly woman who treats her to tea and cookies. But unease starts to build, and soon Beverly is face-to-face with the same evil that tormented her as a young woman. It has reawakened, and it’s ready to claim the Loser’s Club once and for all.

It: Chapter Two stars James McAvoy as Bill, Jessica Chastain as Beverly, Bill Hader as Richie, Jay Ryan as Ben, James Ransone as Eddie, Isaiah Mustafa as Mike, and Andy Bean as Stanley, with Skarsgård returning as the titular villain. Though we spend the most time with Chastain in the trailer, we get quick glimpses at everyone, including some eye-centric body horror from Pennywise and a romance between Bill and Bev.

We can’t wait to see what other evil floats when It: Chapter Two comes to theaters September 6, 2019.
