The world could really use superheroes right now. But until science perfects toxic waste transformation technology or finds magical space stones, we’re on our own. Fortunately this fall Amazon Prime Video will give us the next best thing: TV’s best anti-superhero superhero show. And the official trailer for The Boys‘ second season promises all the explosions, carnage, and dark comedy we expect. Along with a rising threat.
It’s something we all fear—the superpower of social media.
“The even more intense, more insane Season 2 finds The Boys on the run from the law, hunted by the Supes, and desperately trying to regroup and fight back against Vought. In hiding, Hughie (Jack Quaid), Mother’s Milk (Laz Alonso), Frenchie (Tomer Capon) and Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara) try to adjust to a new normal, with Butcher (Karl Urban) nowhere to be found. Meanwhile, Starlight (Erin Moriarty) must navigate her place in The Seven as Homelander (Antony Starr) sets his sights on taking complete control. His power is threatened with the addition of Stormfront (Aya Cash), a social media-savvy new Supe, who has an agenda of her own. On top of that, the Supervillain threat takes center stage and makes waves as Vought seeks to capitalize on the nation’s paranoia.”
This trailer delivers on much of the promise set up by season one. It shows the Boys on the run. And the Supes of the Seven, who no longer have their guiding compass Butcher on their side, are in pursuit. However, this trailer doesn’t mention an important reason the Boys are on the lam. They know about Vought’s program to give babies superpowers so they will grow up to be tools of their treachery.
