Star Wars: The Clone Wars is coming back!
To celebrate its 10th anniversary, the beloved animated series held a panel Thursday morning at San Diego Comic-Con. The show has been a fan favorite for some time, so it was exciting for fans to see creator Dave Filoni and cast members like Ashley Eckstein look back on its legacy. But reflection wasn’t all the panel had in store. Before it wrapped up, Filoni announced that the series would return for a seventh season, and it looks like that will include about the Siege of Mandalore.
Filoni surprised the audience by announcing he had a special gift for the fans. That gift ended up being a trailer for the new season, which ends with a reunion between Anakin Skywalker and his padawan, Ahsoka Tano. “A war left unfinished… until now,” it teases.

The new season, which will span 12 episodes is set to debut on Disney’s recently announced direct-to-consumer streaming service, which kicks off in fall of 2019, though there’s no word yet on when exactly The Clone Wars will come back. It joins Jon Favreau’s live-action series—which will take place between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens—as the second Star Wars series on the new platform.
For those unfamiliar, the Siege of Mandalore was one of the final battles of the Clone Wars, when Ahsoka and Captain Rex led a battalion of clone troopers to find and remove Darth Maul from Mandalore..
No further information is known at this time, but we’ll keep you posted as soon as we hear anything. Are you as excited as us about the return of The Clone Wars?
