Over the past several years, we’ve seen some incredible a cappella renditions of John Williams’Opens in a new tab Star Wars themes. But most of the Star Wars a cappella performances stick to the original trilogy. And this makes sense, to a certain extent. The original films remain the most iconic and widely seen by the general audience. But as the generation that grew up with the prequelsOpens in a new tab have come of age, they’ve been showing their love for Episodes I-III too.
Case in point: vocalist Peter HollensOpens in a new tab. He’s created an a cappella medley of John Williams’ themesOpens in a new tab from the prequel era. He did all this in collaboration with YouTube channel The Warp ZoneOpens in a new tab. And thanks to Geeks Are SexyOpens in a new tab, we discovered this musical love letter to The Phantom Menace, Attack of the ClonesOpens in a new tab, and Revenge of the Sith. Williams’ most memorable prequel themes all get their moment in the sun in Hollens’ performance. Or suns, if you’re on Tatooine. Of course, they start with the main theme. We then transition into the Clone Army music. Next is “The Battle of the Heroes.” This is when Anakin and Obi-Wan have their fateful duel. Following that is the love theme “Across the StarsOpens in a new tab.” Finally, there’s perhaps the prequel’s most famous piece of music, “Duel of the FatesOpens in a new tab.” First used in The Phantom Menace, it appears again in Episodes II and III. Qui-Gon actually turns into a Force Ghost during this segment.

Since The Warp Zone crew helped out Hollins with his medley, he helped out with their original trilogy tributeOpens in a new tab. And that one features all the greatest hits. Pieces like “The Imperial MarchOpens in a new tab,” “Princess Leia’s Theme,” and “Binary Sunset.” Hopefully, we see these folks collaborate on the sequel era music as well. Rey’s theme deserves her a cappella glory too. And so does the First Order theme.
