With it now being official that Robert Pattinson is our newest Batman, fans have begun to wonder just what a R-Patz Batman movie is going to look like. We might not be getting Matt Reeves’ new The Batman film until sometime in 2021, but a YouTuber by the name of Billy Crammer has given us an idea of what to expect with his cleverly edited “mood concept trailer” for Pattinson’s upcoming turn as the Dark Knight. For starters, they did a great job of evoking the last time a Brit played the American Bruce Wayne in the form of Christian Bale. There’s a lot of Batman Begins here, echoing Bale’s original outing as the Caped Crusader. The clips Billy Crammer pulls from include a wide variety of post-Twilight Pattinson films. We see moments from David Cronenberg’s Cosmopolis, a film which fittingly has Pattinson in full Bruce Wayne mode. There are also clips from The Lost City of Z, The Rover, and several others. The in-costume Batman scenes are actually from Titans on DC Universe, and the Arkham video game series.
We only have rumors to go on about what comics Matt Reeves’ new Batman film trilogy will cover (if any). There are reports it will feature multiple villains, including Riddler, Penguin, and Catwoman. But this well executed fan trailer should cancel out any fears that any Bat-fans out there still have about the “sparkly vampire guy” becoming the newest iteration of the Dark Knight Detective. If you only know Pattinson from his more mainstream films, you might not have an idea how much he has grown as an actor. He’s actually perfect for the moody and intense Bruce Wayne. This fan trailer only has us more excited about the notion.
