Loving Rick and Morty means waiting a long time for more Rick and Morty. Or at least it has until now. Unlike the two-year waits we’ve had to endure between the most recent seasons, Adult Swim has announced its hit animated series will return this June. That’s just 13 months after season four ended. But you don’t have to wait any longer to get a sneak peak at what’s next for the Smith family. The show also has a brand new trailer.
And season five looks like it might be Rick and Morty‘s weirdest one yet.
Adult Swim has “officially” declared that Sunday, June 20 will be “Rick and Morty” day. It’s when new episodes of the popular series will return, with the season five global premiere airing at 11:00 p.m. ET/PT. But before it does, there will be a litany of events and bonuses for the show’s loyal fanbase to enjoy. From Adult Swim’s announcement:
“Rick and Morty fans—from around the world—can get a megadose of access and content of all things Rick and Morty during Rick and Morty Day, an out of this world celebration with sneak peeks, behind the scenes footage and special surprises across TV, digital and social, kicking off the global premieres of the new season.”

Based on the show’s new trailer, season five has a chance to be the most depraved one yet. And that’s just based on the unsettling image of Rick and his daughter Beth both looking like Cenobites from Hellraiser. You know a season is going to be weird when a “strange horny ocean man” isn’t even in the top ten strangest things in a trailer.
Nothing is stranger though than Rick and Morty returning a whole year faster than we’ve grown accustomed to. That really is worth celebrating all day. But please don’t dress like a Cenobite.
