PERCY JACKSON Series Coming to Disney+

Demigods rejoice! According to author Rick Riordan, his popular Percy Jackson series is coming to Disney+! The beloved books reimagines Greek mythology and centers around the titular young boy who just happens to be half human half god!

On Twitter, Riordan also wrote: “Hey Percy Jackson fans, for the the past decade, you’ve worked hard to champion a faithful on-screen adaptation of Percy Jackson’s world. Some of you have even suggested it would be a great series for Disney+. We couldn’t agree more! We can’t say much at this stafe but we are very excited about the idea of a live-action series of the highest quality, following the storyline of the original Percy Jackson five-book series, starting with The Lightning Thief in season one. Rest assured that Becky & I will be involved in person in every aspect of the show. There will be much more news in the future, but for now, we have a lot of work to do! Buckle up, demigods. It’s going to be a fantastic, exciting ride!”

Fans will likely be incredibly excited by this news, especially considering their disappointment with the film adaptations. The books are incredibly popular and Riordan is known for highlighting and supporting marginalized authors! Passionate Percy Jackson lovers have been eager for a long form TV adaptation for years, so this is great news for them. We’re excited to see another radical young readers adaptation hit screens.

We know that Disney+ has the budget and creatives to make this show special. Plus, they’re about to embark on another mythology heavy series with Hercules. What does your Percy Jackson dream cast look like? Riordan mentioned there would be more news coming soon so we’ll be making sure to keep up with any and all reveals about this super exciting project!
