PEAKY BLINDERS Creator to Write STAR WARS Movie After Damon Lindelof Exit

Reports indicate that following Damon Lindelof and Justin Britt-Gibson’s exit from an upcoming Star Wars movie, Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight will now write the screenplay for the movie. We don’t know too much about the Star Wars film itself, only that Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, who directed episodes of Marvel Studios’ Ms. Marvel, will direct.

The Star Wars universe has largely expanded via Disney+ TV series of late. The last Star Wars movie on the big screen was Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker in 2019. But this Obaid-Chinoy and Knight entry would likely be one of the first new theatrical releases for the franchise. We don’t yet know if the movie will take place as a stand-alone entry or mark the beginning of a new trilogy. But despite shakeups, we hope to learn more very soon. Steven Knight has a varied resume. But, of course, Knight is best known for Peaky Blinders. The show had a gritty sort of tone with a heavy focus on crime, which we’d feel interested to see translated into Star Wars. Of course, at this point, the movie could go in any direction.
