PARKS AND REC Hilariously Recreated in ANIMAL CROSSING

“Who broke it?” With those three words Ron Swanson created a mini interoffice battle royale, as the employees of Pawnee’s Parks and Recreation department turned on one another in an attempt to exonerate themselves in the mystery of the broken coffee maker. What truly makes the scene so memorable is the revelation that Ron himself had punched the machine after burning his hand. He just thought things were getting too chummy in the office. It’s one of the show’s best cold opens, a seemingly perfect minute of comedy. But now we have an all new way to appreciate it. Someone has recreated that Parks and Recreation moment in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

And eagle-head Ron Swanson is too perfect for this world.

Twitter user @OhSoPrecious16 used the smash hit new version of Animal Crossing to remake the “Who Broke It” scene. Her video (which we learned about at Collider) features a human version of Leslie Knope surrounded by animal colleagues. In addition to Ron’s Buzz eagle head, our favorite selection might be a gentle unicorn for Tom. (Even though there’s no way a unicorn could fit into Tom’s tiny shoes.)

This video combines two of the only good things to come out during social distancing. Animal Crossing: New Horizons has been a giant hit since it’s release. Millions of gamers have been flocking to their virtual islands to escape our world. And NBC also aired a surprise Parks and Rec virtual reunion to help viewers deal with COVID-19 and raise money for Feeding America. Both were literally what we needed.

And since we’re not out of the woods yet, we need more Animal Crossing recreations of Parks and Rec. And we know which episode. The “Who Broke It” cold open kicked off “The Fight” episode. It’s the one where everyone gets drunk on Snake Juice at the Snakehole Lounge.

PARKS AND REC GETS Remade in ANIMAL CROSSING_1 NBC

It’s a perfect episode in every way, but we really want to see Eagle Ron Swanson drunk and dancing with Janet Snakehole’s little hat. We would sell all our turnips to make that happen.
