Saturday Night Live is fresh from yet another successful Emmys run and ready to get back to business. NBC’s long-running sketch comedy series returns for its 47th season in just a few weeks. And we finally have our cast and a first glimpse at the hosts. SNL released the first four hosts and musical guests of the season. And among the hosts are Owen Wilson and Jason Sudeikis.
Wilson is starting things off, hosting the October 2 season premiere, with Kacey Musgraves as musical guest. The funny man is fresh off his run as Mobius M. Mobius in Loki. He’s also starring in the new Wes Anderson film, The French Dispatch, which opens on October 22. We’re already manifesting SNL sketches featuring major Wes Anderson vibes, as well as just maybe finally giving us Mobius on a jet ski? As a little treat.
Kim Kardashian West is following things up on October 9, with Halsey serving as musical guest. And from there, Rami Malek picks up the hosting reins, with Young Thug as musical guest. Malek is hosting just a week after No Time to Die, in which he plays the villain, drops. Sure, we think he’ll do a perfectly fine job as host. Still, it’s a shame Daniel Craig and The Weeknd weren’t available to return for the gig.
Disney+/Apple TV+
And capping off the first set of hosts is Jason Sudeikis, which Lorne Michaels recently teased. The Ted Lasso star spent a decade at 30 Rock, working as a writer and then cast member. He’s hosting with Brandi Carlisle as musical guest. And what happens when many alums return, we’re keeping our fingers crossed for some fun cameos.
Meanwhile, the series has just confirmed its season 47 cast. After strongly hinting at several departures, most of the cast is back for another round. Yep, Kenan Thompson, Cecily Strong, Kate McKinnon, Aidy Bryant, and Pete Davidson are all back. As are Michael Che, Colin Jost, Mikey Day, Heidi Gardner, Alex Moffat, Chris Redd, Ego Nwodim, Melissa Villaseñor. Season 47 ups Bowen Yang and Chloe Fineman to the main cast. And returning featured players are Andrew Dismukes and Punkie Johnson.
However, after eight seasons, Beck Bennett has departed SNL. The comedian confirmed he left the long-running series on Instagram. It’s certainly a surprising move, considering he was not one of the many rumored departures. Featured cast member Lauren Holt is also not returning.
Welcome to the cast!

Yep, Johnson, who may just have the internet’s favorite impersonation of a certain former president is headed to SNL. I’m sure Lorne’s just itching for a way to use it.
