Oscar Isaac might be known as a god to some already. But now, he will take his fan accolades to the next level. Oscar Isaac is set to play Jesus Christ, at least, to voice him, in his next movie. This faith-based animated movie is titled The King of Kings. Forest Whitaker will also lend his voice to the movie, playing the apostle Peter to Isaac’s Jesus. Kenneth Branagh, Uma Thurman, and Roman Griffin Davis are also a part of the The King of Kings cast. Additionally, Pierce Brosnan, Mark Hamill, and Ben Kingsley will join the film as Jesus’ adversaries.
According to Deadline, “The faith-based feature is very loosely inspired by The Life of Our Lord, a little-known Charles Dickens short story that was published posthumously and that depicted the life and times of Jesus.”
Producer Anfernee Kim notes, “A film capturing the epic life of Jesus Christ warrants a stellar cast, and our actors announced to date – Oscar Isaac, Forest Whitaker, Kenneth Branagh, Uma Thurman and Roman Griffin Davis – is impressive by any measure. Oscar Isaac perfectly captures the impactful delivery of Jesus, and Forest Whitaker’s expertly embodies the complicated aspects of Peter.”
When it comes to the villains in the film, The Hollywood Reporter reveals, “Brosnan voices Pontius Pilate, the biblical figure who ordered Jesus’ crucifixion. Hamill will tackle the role of King Herod, who is described in the Bible as ordering the Massacre of the Innocents shortly after Jesus’ birth. Kingsley is taking on the part of High Priest Caiaphas, who presided over the Sanhedrin trial of Jesus.”
We guess we’re down for Oscar Isaac to voice a god and play Jesus. Although we might be a bit more excited for Isaac’s vampiric turn with Kristen Stewart.
