If there’s one thing guaranteed to bring cheer into the lives of people on the internet, it’s a set of new Starter Pokémon. So, of course, the announcement of Pokémon Winds and Waves was met with a great deal of joy when it also revealed the Gen 10 Starter Pokémon: Browt, Pombon, and Gecqua. Indeed, there is much to rejoice about. We have a grumpy chick, a fiery puppy, and a sly gecko to fill any kind of holes we might have in our hearts. What could be better than that?
After all, it’s somehow been FOUR years since our last big Starter Pokémon celebration for Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet‘s Gen 9 Starter Pokémon: Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly. And boy, was that a fun time. But almost half a decade of time means we have a lot of love pent up in our hearts. And that love has now been RELEASED in full force. Whether you know in your heart which starter you’ll be going with, or you’re still deciding between Pokémon Winds and Waves grass, fire, and water set, let’s take a look at how the internet has reacted to Browt, Pombon, and Gecqua.
Pombon, is, of course, a puppy! And fans were quick to point out how that might work out in both a Pokémon Winds and a Pokémon Waves scenario. Too true. Too true.
Others were quick to note that this puppy Starter Pokémon might be the bane of existence for some other cool cats out there. (Litten, we’re looking at you.) But we can’t help but wonder what Meowth might make of Pombon if they ever met.
Okay, okay, we admit it, Pombon is our favorite Pokémon Winds and Waves starter Pokémon. But there’s a lot of love to go around. We have to give some love for Browt’s grumpy “bean chick” ways. If Browt has its wings on its hips, you know you’re in trouble.
All of that said, we know who the TRUE diva of the Gen 10 Starters is. We said it before, and we’ll say it again, Gecqua KNOWS how to be a queen (gender neutral) and we love that for this Winds and Waves Starter Pokémon. It turns out, the internet agrees.
We also love this reaction to the water-type Starter Pokémon. Gecqua’s eyes are, indeed, iconic.
