The anticipated crossover of Marvel’s Runaways and Cloak & Dagger is getting really close. Runaways Season 3 is set to hit Hulu on December 13 and, based on its new trailer, it’s going to be an explosive arc. This season is going back to its 10-episode format, which honestly works well for Cloak & Dagger by keeping the storyline tighter. Here’s the full synopsis of what to expect this season.
In an action-packed Season 3, the Runaways frantically search for their captured friends Chase, Gert, and Karolina. The kids go head to head with an unstoppable enemy who has targeted Leslie — or more accurately, the child she’s carrying. Nico draws them all into a dark realm where its ruler Morgan le Fay, played by Elizabeth Hurley, is much more nefarious than anyone the kids have yet to face.
The Marvel Runaways Season 3 teaser jumps off with Nico encountering Morgan le Fay in another realm. Nico looks terrified as she is told to stop fighting the darkness – which appears to be a major struggle as she fights against those forces throughout the trailer. There’s one epic moment when Nico is in danger until the Staff of One comes out of her body. Nico dispels everything around her but its probably just a temporary reprieve.
Meanwhile, Xavin reveals that there’s a fourth member of the Magistrate’s family who is the “darkest and most dangerous” of them all. The big catch? This entity might be lurking inside one of our faithful heroes. The plot thickens.
Of course, there are a ton of action scenes with Molly, Chase, and Nico, who seems to be the center of this season’s storyline. But, the biggest moment comes at the very end when Nico turns around to see Tandy and Tyrone appear out of a billow of black smoke. Tandy wants to know who Nico is and Ty follows up by asking Nico what the here she has done.
This likely means whatever Nico has going on caused some impact to the Darkforce. At the end of Cloak & Dagger Season 2, Tyrone and Tandy left New Orleans on a bus to an unknown location. It’s not clear how much time has passed between that moment and the events occurring in this trailer, but hopefully they got a chance to have a little bit of chill.
Runaways fans are hype about its third season and the collaboration with more Marvel teen heroes but Cloak & Dagger fans might have mixed feelings. It’s exciting to see the duo back on TV again, however, Freeform has been extra silent about Cloak & Dagger’s future. Will they also come back Season 3? Perhaps the network will drop the news now that the Runaways trailer is out. Or, maybe we won’t get the renewal announcement until Runaways’ new season arrives. Either way, fingers are crossed for good news.
The Runaways team is definitely facing their greatest challenge so far but they can tackle anything as long as they stick together. And, an assist from a girl with daggers of light and a boy who moves like a shadow is always a good thing.
