Live-Action MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE Casts Its He-Man with Noah Centineo

By the power of Grayskull, Masters of the Universe has finally found its He-Man for its upcoming big screen adaptation of the beloved cartoon. Noah Centineo revealed he will be joining the cast as the hero with the mightiest pageboy haircut in all of Eternia.

Centineo, who co-starred in Netflix’s hugely popular 2018 teen rom-com To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, was a guest this week on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Fallon asked the young actor about some of his future films, including a rumor about his role in Masters of the Universe. Centineo then confirmed he will in fact be playing the great Prince Adam, better known to generations of ’80s kids who grew up watching Masters of the Universe (and who also made their parents by them all the toys) as the scantily-clad He-Man.

At only 22 years old, Centineo is a very different choice to play He-Man than we saw in the original 1987 live-action film, which starred Rocky IV‘s Dolph Lundgren. As of now, Centineo is the only official cast member to join the film, which is still only in pre-production and is set to be directed by the brother team of Adam and Aaron Nee, who helmed 2015’s Bank of Robbers.

This does lead to an interesting question, though: Would Centineo have been cast as He-Man without the Calvin Klein underwear ad, or do some people just lend themselves to being photographed in their skivvies? And a quick follow-up: how good can anyone look, even a handsome young actor, when they’ll be mostly naked save for a blonde pageboy haircut?

Ah, who are we (a.k.a. me, a person no one wants to photograph unless I’m wearing but sweats in poor lighting) kidding? Stupid haircut or not it’s obvious he has the power to pull this off.
