Hocus Pocus has become a cult classic since its release in 1993. The Sanderson sisters and their mischief-making ways are beloved year-round, but especially on Halloween. Fans of the film have long hoped for a sequel, and they’re getting their wish with a new book from Disney. Via Oh My Disney, Hocus Pocus and the All-New Sequel by A.W. Jantha will jump forward 25 years after the events of the movie to visit with Max Dennison and his wife Allison (yep, they got hitched) and their 17-year-old daughter Poppy. They’re still in Salem, and Poppy gets to meet and fight, you guessed it, the Sanderson sisters.
You can’t keep a Sanderson down.
The upcoming book is split into two parts. The first part is “a fresh retelling” of the movie (which is interesting since a reimagining of Hocus Pocus is in the works as a TV movie), while the second part goes into sequel territory. Besides spending time with Max and Allison and their kid, we’ll get to hang out with Dani Dennison again. I know Dani has grown up, but I hope she’s retained all her sass.c
Hocus Pocus and the All-New Sequel will be out on July 10, just in time for the film’s 25th anniversary.
Are you looking forward to meeting an adult Max Dennison? What do you hope to see from the sequel? Let us know in the comments.
