The second season of Netflix‘s animated Devil May Cry series will debut in May. It’s still so weird to think the initial game in the now-25-year-old series only exists because Capcom decided to go a different way for Resident Evil 4. Imagine a world where Leon Kennedy was more like Dante in DMC. Weird. At any rate, after the first season of the animated adaptation—from Castlevania showrunner Adi Shankar—proved popular and received good reviews, a second season was inevitable. We now have the trailer and it looks just as bombastic as season one.
I swear, I could listen to Johnny Yong Bosch voice anime characters forever. I have, really. He brings his high-energy delivery to Dante and it hearkens back to his work on Trigun and in Akira. Plenty of quips and wisecracks.
The official synopsis for season two is as follows:
A war between worlds ignites as Dante must battle the only force that mirrors his own: his estranged twin brother Vergil. In Devil May Cry season 2, Dante must confront his own devils and the feeling of family he lost as a child. With the reemergence of Vergil, will Dante lay to rest old demons or fall victim to them?

The show’s animation studio, Studio Mir, is one of the best for action animation anywhere. They provided animation services for shows like Voltron: Legendary Defender and X-Men ’97. They serve as the main production studio for Devil May Cry and the quality is right there on the screen. It makes us very excited.
Devil May Cry season two will give us Dante versus Vergil in what looks like loads of epic battles. May 12 can’t get here soon enough.
