Many regard writer/director Tommy Wiseau’s The Room as one of the worst movies ever produced. And yet because of that, it has garnered a cult following not seen since The Rocky Horror Picture Show. And some actors in Hollywood are just as obsessed as the rest of us. Remember The Disaster Artist? Well, now you can add Bob Odenkirk to the list of A-list stars faithfully paying homage to The Room. According to Deadline, the Better Call Saul star is starring in a video remake of The Room, performed entirely for charity. Odenkirk confirmed the news via Twitter.
Performed against a green screen that displays locations used in the original movie, The Room remake is coming from the folks at Acting For a Cause. They are a volunteer organization that stages table readings of classic plays and movies via Zoom for charity. This production will differ from the rest, as they will perform it in front of a green screen recreating locations from the original movie. Odenkirk won’t be the only well-known name among the bunch. The Haunting of Hill House and Midnight Mass creator Mike Flanagan is also part of the fun. Recently, he tweeted that he will be playing a role in this production.
Others you might recognize that you’ll see include Bella Heathcote and activist/actor Cameron Kasky. But as exciting as those names are, it’s really Bob Odenkirk that we’re here for. We can’t wait to hear him yell iconic lines such as “You’re tearing me apart Lisa!” And of course, we can’t wait to hear his delivery on those “Oh hi Mark.” lines. Usually, these Acting For a Cause readings are announced mere days before they drop. So we won’t have to wait too long to experience what is sure to be an unforgettable performance.
