Blizzard Entertainment is updating the beloved game Diablo II for the first time in awhile. According to a report coming from Variety, Diablo II: Resurrected is bringing in the Warlock as its eighth class, the first recent addition to the game in over 25 years. This is all a part of the franchise’s 30th anniversary celebration. The Warlock introduces a unique gameplay style centered on summoning, binding, and consuming demons. This will result in hundreds of strategic combinations and choices. The Reign of the Warlock DLC will feature actor Rahul Kohli (Midnight Mass, iZombie) voicing the role of the titular Warlock. You can watch the new trailer introducing Kohli’s Warlock character below.
The Warlock character will have the ability to summon three core demon types: the Goatman, the Tainted, and the Defiler. In a statement, Blizzard Entertainment revealed the following: “The Warlock is disciplined, ominous, and incredibly knowledgeable, lingering in the shadows for years and studying secrets mortals shouldn’t know.”
In this new update for Diablo II: Resurrected, which is a remastered version of the original Diablo II, the Warlock class arrives ahead of the upcoming Diablo IV: Lord of Hatred update coming this April. The free-to-play mobile title Diablo Immortal will follow sometime later this summer. More Diablo II reveals will come this fall during the BlizzCon convention.

Rahul Kohli revealed his excitement about getting the opportunity to create new content for a 26-year-old game. At first, he thought it was a mistake. Then he realized, “Oh, this is new content for a game that came out in the year 2000.” The Diablo 2: Resurrected update also reveals new and enhanced Terror Zones, where players can earn consumables. Reign of the Warlock launches on Wednesday, February 11, in Diablo II: Resurrected, across Battle.net, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch. This summer sees Diablo Immortal’s Warlock-focused update, Andariel Rises. This update sets fans back $24.99.
