Adventure Time is one of the few TV shows that ended on its own terms. After nine wonderful, expansive, and strange seasons the gorgeous animated series wrapped up with a beautiful finale. But HBO Max is bringing some of the beloved cast back for a new original creation Adventure Time: Distant Lands. The first trailer promises an epic sci-fi adventure with a fan fave character!
The first of the four animated specials focuses on BMO. The little gaming genderfluid console who lived with Finn and Jake. Adventure Time was often at its best when it was at its most experimental. Distant Lands seems to be following that lead. The trailer throws BMO into an epic dystopian fantasy landscape. Wherever in the galaxy BMO has ended up, the planet looks ravaged and in need of saving, so it’s lucky the hero they need has arrived!

Visually Adventure Time: Distant Lands BMO looks like an absolute treat. Intricate landscapes, cute character designs, and action-packed adventure are all the things that made us fall in love with the original show so, it’s reassuring to see them here. This trailer doesn’t reveal whether or not this title will be available at launch, but whenever it drops we can’t wait to see it.

If you’re wondering about the other Adventure Time specials that HBO Max has in store, then here’s what you need to know. Obsidian will center on Princess Bubblegum and Marceline as they delve into their pasts to attempt to save the world. Wizard City follows everyone’s favorite demon worshipping sweet treat Peppermint Butler. And Together Again will see Finn and Jake together again for the journey of a lifetime.
As massive fans of the show we are delighted by the potential of revisiting our favorite friends from the Land of Ooo.
