10 Virtual Cast Reunions We’re Still Waiting For

One of the only good things to come out of these quarantined times are all of the virtual cast reunions of beloved film and television shows. So far, we’ve had virtual reunions for the casts of Parks & Rec, Community, Melrose Place, and soon, we’ll even have a reunion for Lord of the Rings! So who else should get back together (from a distance) for a charitable cause? We have some ideas. Seeing these casts come together would surely help brighten up our summer months.

If the Lord of the Rings cast is getting back together for a Zoom reunion, then we think it’s high time for a just-as-magical Hogwarts class reunion as well. Don’t you? Someone send an owl and let Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson, Matthew Lewis, Tom Felton, and the rest of the kids know it’s time to get back together for all of their sheltering-at-home Muggle fans.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Twentieth Century Fox

Almost 17 years since it went off the air, Buffy the Vampire Slayer remains one of the most beloved and influential shows of all time. Heck, every CW superhero show practically owes their existence to Buffy Summers and her friends. It would be great to see Sarah Michelle Gellar, series creator Joss Whedon, and the rest of the Scooby Gang get together for virtual reunion. Bring back the entire Sunnydale class of ’99 we say!

Freaks and Geeks

Dreamworks Television

This short-lived coming-of-age series from the minds of Judd Apatow and Paul Feig only ran one brief season, from 1999-2000. But it not only launched their careers, it launched the careers of its principal cast: Seth Rogen, Linda Cardellini, James Franco, Martin Starr, John Francis Daley, Busy Phillips, and Jason Segal. It would be fantastic to see everyone together again, especially as it’s been exactly two decades since they went off the air. C’mon, class of 2000! Let’s do it!

X-Men Original Cast

Twentieth Century Fox

This year marks also the 20th anniversary of the original X-Men film, a movie that is at least partially responsible for the Marvel movie world we live in now. Although the Fox X-Men universe may be over and done with, now would be the ideal time for Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellan, Hugh Jackman, Anna Paquin, James Marsden, Famke Janssen, Halle Berry and Rebecca Romijn to get back together and reminisce about their early days at Xavier’s School for the Gifted.

Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man Trilogy

Sony

Much like the X-Men films, Sam Raimi’s cinematic adventures of everyone’s friendly neighborhood wallcrawler helped to usher in the era of Marvel dominance. So we think it would be a great time to bring back Raimi, Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst, James Franco. And the villains can come too! Let’s have Willem Dafoe, Alfred Molina, Thomas Hayden Church, all get in on the fun too.

Beetlejuice

Warner Brothers

Although Pee-wee’s Big Adventure was Tim Burton’s first film, it was Beetlejuice that really established the Burton aesthetic to the masses. So how awesome would it be if Burton got together virtually with his cast from the film? Imagine Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, Catherine O’Hara, Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis together again for the first time since they all danced to Jump in the Line (Shake Senora). We might never get that Beetlejuice sequel, but this is the next best thing.

Hannibal

NBC Universal

Hannibal just lasted three seasons, but the fanbase for this wonderfully wicked series is still strong as ever. And they are still holding out hope for a potential fourth season somewhere down the line. Well, that might be on a more distant horizon, but it would be amazing if series creator Bryan Fuller brought back Mads Mikkelsen, Hugh Dancy, and the rest of the cast for what would no doubt be a delicious reunion.

Star Trek: The Next Generation

CBS

Recently, the cast of TNG got back together for a special Zoom reunion to celebrate the birthday of Marina Sirtis, a.k.a. Counselor Deanna Troi. But we say it’s time to let us fans in on the old Enterprise gang getting back together. In fact, bring everyone back this time! That includes Whoopi Goldberg (Guinan), Denise Crosby (Tasha Yar), and John de Lancie (Q). Heck, bring Diana Muldaur (Dr.Pulaski)! Make this the ultimate TNG cast reunion, better than any convention so far, and Trekkers everywhere will go nuts for it.

Hey Dude and Salute Your Shorts

Nickelodeon

Neither show boasts an all-star cast, with only a few members of each remaining in the limelight to this day. But that’s even more of a reason to reunite them. Both Nickelodeon series were ’90s staples for kids. We grew up with them, and getting a chance to catch up and hear old stories would be a perfect way to remember better times.

Alias

ABC Television Studios

It’s been almost fifteen years since Sydney Bristow and her various secret agent friends and enemies graced our television screens on Alias. So don’t you think that now is the perfect time for the agents of SD6 to come back together for one more mission? Maybe a Zoom mission? Let’s see series creator J.J. Abrams together with Jennifer Garner, Victor Garber, Michael Vartan, Kevin Weisman, and maybe even Bradley Cooper—who got his big break on the show nearly twenty years ago.
