SPIDER-MAN: FRESHMAN YEAR Adds Charlie Cox to Cast as Daredevil

Is it really San Diego Comic-Con with a slate of Marvel news? Of course not. All fans are getting fed during the 2022 convention from those who are looking forward to major films like Black Panther: Wakanda Forever to others who love animated series. In our SDCC 2022 Marvel prediction post, we thought we would get a first look trailer at Spider-Man: Freshman Year. And although that is not true, we did get some general information about the series, including some very cool photos. Executive producer Jeff Trammel, who serves as head writer, took the SDCC stage along with Ryan Meinerding to talk about the characters and let fans take their first peek. The big news, though? Charlie Cox will voice Daredevil in Spider-Man: Freshman Year when the show hits in 2024.

In case you forgot (or never knew) Spider-Man: Freshman Year follows our beloved Peter Parker before the events of the MCU. It’s a dive into what his life is like before becoming our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man that pays homage to the character’s comic book origins.

Along with Cox, Nico Minoru (as Peter’s best friend), Lonnie Lincoln, Amadeus Cho, Harry Osborn, and more will be in the voice cast. SDCC panel moderator (and generally cool dude) Paul F. Tompkins will also play a character, too! And, this series is set before Captain America: Civil War. Very interesting times, indeed.

Honestly, we can’t wait to see it on Disney+ in 2024. In addition to casting news, we also got a few really cool first look photos of the series, too. We get to meet Peter Parker and his friends, and also see what he is like in this universe, too.

On top of all that news, there’s even more. Although we haven’t seen any of Spider-Man: Freshman Year yet, we do know it will be back for another round. The SDCC panel revealed that a season two is coming. And what will the title be? Glad you asked, reader. Spider-Man: Sophomore Year of course. That makes a ton of sense. So now we must begin the long wait between now and 2024.
