MARVEL STUDIOS: LEGENDS Revisits MCU Heroes Ahead of TV Shows

Disney‘s most recent investors call basically was essentially a digital Hall H. The Mouse House announced roughly a gazillion new shows and movies. That included a bonanza of original Marvel projects that will head to Disney+. The MCU is making a big move to the small screen. There are enough projects that fans should be entertained for a long time. Yet, somehow, Marvel isn’t done. It has just revealed yet another new series, Marvel Studios: Legends. It will “dive deeper into the stories” of the franchise’s most interesting characters.

Just in case Phase 4 of the MCU wasn’t already going to be massive enough, Marvel Studios: Legends on Disney+ will give us even more of Earth’s mightiest heroes. It “will showcase individual characters viewers have come to know and love over the years and revisit some of their most iconic moments.” From the official announcement:

“As the Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to expand, Marvel Studios: Legends celebrates and codifies what has come before. Revisit the epic heroes, villains and moments from across the MCU in preparation for the highly anticipated stories still to come. Each dynamic segment feeds directly into the upcoming series premiering on Disney+—setting the stage for future events. Marvel Studios: Legends weaves together the many threads that constitute the unparalleled Marvel Cinematic Universe.”

The series will kick off by exploring the stories of Wanda Maximoff and Vision. Both will star on the first MCU-directly connected series, WandaVision. That show premieres on January 15. Legends will debut a week earlier with two episodes on January 8. They will give viewers even more perspective on both heroes. We expect there will be new episodes of this “ongoing” show before every MCU series starts.

Marvel also revealed the synopses for both Legends episodes. Wanda Maximoff’s episode explores her MCU journey from Avengers foe to powerful ally. The full synopsis reads, “Wanda Maximoff made her debut in Avengers: Age of Ultron as a powerful adversary of The Avengers, only to become an even more powerful ally. [She] found strength in herself and in her extraordinary relationship with one highly unique individual, Vision. Marvel Studios: Legends explores Wanda’s story as she grapples with cruel hardships and loss, a chaotic power that she strives to control, and shifting loyalties from those she trusts most.”

Meanwhile Vision’s episode explores the android superhero’s interest in humanity and how it shapes his journey through the MCU. Per the synopsis, “Born into the world in Avengers: Age of Ultron Vision chooses to fight on the side of humanity, though he himself is an artificial form of life. Marvel Studios: Legends follows Vision on his quest to understand humans more fully, evolving to be more like them, as he explores a romantic relationship with Wanda Maximoff in Captain America: Civil War. All of this leads to his final moments, as he makes the ultimate sacrifice for mankind, leaving those he loved to an uncertain future.”

Are we going to watch a Marvel series that only exists to prep us for another Marvel series? Even though we’ve seen every MCU movie a million times and know these characters stories?

You don’t need another series to find that answer. But with Marvel they might make one anyway.
