More DOCTOR WHO Video Games Coming Next Year

The world of Doctor Who is always expanding beyond the beloved television series. Digital entertainment studio Maze Theory recently announced they’re developing content for a new “large, cross-format” story. You might recognize the name Maze Theory; that’s the team that brought you the Doctor Who: Edge of Time VR experience back in 2019. Their upcoming efforts will be part of a new Doctor Who experience titled Time Lord Victorious.

The initiative will spread across pretty much every part of the Doctor Who universe outside of the TV show. Forbes confirmed Maze Theory’s involvement and said, “Everything from books, comics, various audio spin-offs, and even action figures and escape rooms have drawn inspiration for the new story.” BBC explained a little more about Time Lord Victorious in a recent press release. They explained the experience “will tell a new and untold story, set within the Dark Times at the start of the universe, when even the Eternals were young.”

This enormous undertaking will launch later in 2020 and run for 12 weeks. Maze Theory’s involvement is focused on games. They’re expanding their role in the Doctor Who franchise after The Edge of Time VR experience. In early 2021, they’ll be launching a Doctor Who game for the PlayStation, Xbox, PC, and Nintendo Switch. They have a horror and sci-fi mobile phone takeover game lined up, too. These two games will join The Edge of Time to create a trilogy experience. Maze Theory states, “Fans can expect new adventures, new game mechanics, intriguing subplots and iconic features such as the TARDIS, terrifying Weeping Angels, imposing Daleks and—of course—the chance to collude with the Doctor herself.”

Besides Doctor Who, Maze Theory has also announced a Peaky Blinders VR game called The King’s Ransom, with an expected 2021 launch. The game will be a narrative driven action adventure featuring legendary characters, including Tommy Shelby, Arthur Shelby and Polly Gray, and set in iconic locations such as The Garrison pub and Charlie’s Yard.
