It's the most wonderful time of the year! Of course, I'm talking about the fact that Star Wars: The Last JediOpens in a new tab is only a couple of weeks away! We've been hoarding our Kyber crystals, reading up on Jedi lore, and scanning the world wide web for the slightest hints of what might be about to occur in the galaxy we all love so much. Ever since his first holographic appearance in The Force Awakens, Supreme Leader Snoke has stoked the fires of fan theories. Seeing as it looks like he'll be playing a large part in The Last Jedi, we thought it was time to delve into some of the wildest theories about just who Snoke may or may not be.
Anakin Skywalker

Jar Jar Binks

This outrageous theory has been floating around online, and it was originally posed by MoviepilotOpens in a new tab. Jar Jar has long been a villain to fans who hated the prequels, but could it really be that he's actually Darth Plagueis in disguise? Using the Force to appear as a lowly Gungan, biding his time until he could finally become Snoke and rule the galaxy? Lol obviously not, but it's fun to imagine, right?
Grand Moff Tarkin

Mace Windu

Darth Maul

Darth Sidious' apprentice Maul was an instantly iconic addition to canon. Although he apparently died during the final battle of Ep I, Maul actually survived as revealed in The Clone Wars, and now fans on YouTubeOpens in a new tab think he may have become Snoke. Maul is the right age and comes from a powerful magic family, but would it really make sense for the creators to bring a character from the prequels back? We're not so sure.
Palpatine's (Force) Son
As you'll surely remember during the prequels, it was revealed that Anakin wasn't born but was in fact created by the midi-chlorians. With this radical bit of ridiculousness added to canon, it's led many fans on RedditOpens in a new tab to believe that Snoke might be the son of Palpatine. Whether born of woman or an accident, conceived of the Force and Palpatine's hunger for power, this would be a bold choice that we'd love to see come true.
The Son of Mortis

Now this theory would introduce a whole new level of Force user into the filmic SWU. The Son was one of three Force wielders introduced in The Clone Wars series. The embodiment of the Dark Side, he lived alongside his sister--the embodiment of the light--and the father who kept them both balanced. This videoOpens in a new tab explains why Snoke could be The Son, whilst some fans have suggested that Rey could be The Daughter! It's pretty out there, but Star Wars does love a family saga...
