SEKIRO: SHADOWS DIE TWICE Shows Off Epic Samurai Action

From From Software, the developers of Dark Souls and Bloodborne, comes a fantasy samurai adventure that will undoubtedly be incredibly difficult and cause you to die often before you master the perfect katana swipe. You are a samurai with a prosthetic arm, facing off against feudal Japan’s version of Bo Abobo in the Double Dragon movie.

Rappel, slash, ride horses, and take on monsters and giants as you fight your way through this world. The visuals look amazing, and that jump scare with the serpent at the end is some Resident Evil-style shock-and-ambush. Think of it as Westworld‘s Shogun World, only you’ll get out of it alive, and there are a lot more monsters.

We don’t know many more specifics yet, but back in December From teased that we’d learn more in the next 12 months. Presumably this is the start of the rollout of info, though right now we’re still reeling from that trailer, so we can wait a while longer before overloading on details that just might short-circuit the joy centers of our lizard brains. The initial press release reveals that it’s “a third-person, action-adventure game with RPG elements. The single-player game puts players in the protagonist role of a hard-hearted warrior whose mission is to rescue his master, a young lord, and exact revenge on his arch nemesis. As ‘Sekiro,’ or the ‘one-armed wolf,’ players will discover the many ways to strategically approach combat and engage enemies.”

Are you ready for the inevitable layers of challenge this beautifully rendered world will present? Is Dark Souls meets Samurai a dream you never knew you had until just right freakin’ now? Let us know in comments, any way you slice it.
